This is our first newsletter of 2012. So it brings the opportunity to take a look back on the year that just ended, before we archive 2011 on the "historian" and concentrate all our efforts in executing our 2012 objectives.

Important orders |
TANESCO, Tanzania
Efacec Automation received an important order from Tanesco, a Tanzanian company, through its business partner Jacobsen Elektro (JEL) of Norway. The contract comprises the supply of Efacec equipment and all necessary services to remodel the control and supervision system of the New Pangani Falls HPP hydro power plant. The power plant is composed of two generator groups, 34 MW each.

EDP Distribuição, Portugal
EDP Distribuição, the Portuguese Electric Power Distribution Operator, awarded Efacec Automation a two-year contract for the supply of substation automation systems. This contract was the result of an international competition, with pre-qualification, where Efacec was one of three qualified companies.

Glendale Water & Power (GWP), US
Efacec ACS received an important order from the City of Glendale, California for the supply of Outage Management and Distribution Management Systems (OMS/DMS) to enable GWP to continue its program to improve the reliability of service through Distribution Automation. The PRISM™ OMS/DMS will be fully integrated with the Efacec ACS SCADA system already in operation at Glendale. The PRISM system utilizes a single real-time database and a single network model for all SCADA/DMS/OMS functionality, greatly simplifying maintenance while providing a powerful integrated user interface for system operators.

Consolidated Edison Co. (Con Edison), US
Efacec ACS has received a noteworthy order from Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Edison) for the replacement of legacy substation data concentrators. Efacec ACS will supply 20 new Substation Data Concentrator/Protocol Translator systems based upon the new NTX-200 substation controller and the HMI 500TOUCH.

During the last quarter of 2011, Efacec do Brasil Automation Business Unit received a set of important orders regarding the power network management and automation, namely:
- ENERGEST (EDP Group) – Expansion of the Scate X Platform in Generation Operations Centre
- ELETROBRAS / ELETROSUL – Automation System for the 230/34.5 kV Substation of Cerro Chato Wind Farm
- CEEE-D, Pelotas 138/13.8 kV Substation

|

Efacec will again be present at the IEEE PES T&D Conference & Expo. This is a biennial event that is the largest T&D utility conference held in the US. It attracts more than 11,000 attendees from the utility industry around the world.
Efacec will display and demonstrate its complete portfolio of solutions available in the US, including Efacec ACS Smart Grid solutions, switchgear, servicing, EV chargers / infrastructure management and power transformers. |

IEC 61850 Standardization Group Meets in Portugal |

Efacec Automation, jointly with REN, the Portuguese TSO and EDP Distribuição, the Portuguese DSO, hosted the first 2012 meeting of TC 57 WG 10, the standardization body in charge of the development of IEC 61850. |
