EDP Distribuição, Portugal
EDP Distribuição, the Portuguese Electric Power Distribution Operator, awarded Efacec Automation a two-year contract for the supply of substation automation systems. This contract was the result of an international competition, with pre-qualification, where Efacec was one of three qualified companies.
The contract comprises the supply of products and related solutions for EDP’s distribution, spread throughout the Portuguese territory.
The substation automation systems include: a central processing module based on UC 500 to be installed in local control station, control units based on Series 500 IEDs for auxiliary services, terminal protection and control units from Efacec Series 420 IEDs for protection of HV and MV levels.
In the scope of this contract, EDP has already ordered automation systems for eight substations. The order includes new systems as well as upgrades of existing ones. In five of them, maintenance of the supplied systems is also included. The solutions to be supplied by Efacec will allow EDP to provide improved service for its customers, thanks to a new, more efficient, safer and more reliable system
The Efacec system architecture allows lower installation, testing and maintenance costs, which make the solution more attractive from both a technical and an investment point of view.
This contract is an indication of the trust EDP has in Efacec, based on experience, competitiveness and high quality of developed solutions within the scope of substation automation systems. Both companies have worked together for more than two decades, and Efacec is very grateful for the acknowledgment of confidence in our offered services.
