Important orders
Consolidated Edison Co. (Con Edison), US
Efacec ACS has received a noteworthy order from Consolidated Edison Company of New York (Con Edison) for the replacement of legacy substation data concentrators. Efacec ACS will supply 20 new Substation Data Concentrator/Protocol Translator systems based upon the new NTX-200 substation controller and the HMI 500TOUCH. Con Edison will utilize the units as “multitasking” devices that will provide:
  • Improved performance of control center applications including Load Shed/Restoration
  • Enhanced IED communication capability through the use of open protocols such as DNP 3.0 and Modbus
  • Interface to existing electromechanical relays using legacy HDLC protocol
  • The ability to integrate new digital relays in the substation
  • Improved system reliability and lower O&M costs
The NTX-200 is the first in a new line of substation system controllers from Efacec ACS. It can be deployed as an intelligent electronic device (IED) gateway, protocol translator and conventional remote terminal unit (RTU) for the harsh environments and real-time data requirements of substations for transmission and distribution. The scalability of the NTX-200 allows for perfect adaptation for retrofits or upgrades to other less efficient or obsolete systems. It features a powerful ARM processor and Linux operating system with distributed architecture, virtual RTU database mapping and Ethernet/serial gateways.
The HMI 500TOUCH is a full-featured panel PC solution for utility and industrial applications that provides an intuitive process view.
The HMI 500TOUCH provides 2D vector graphics for tabular and one-line displays, with optional features such as trending, data/event logs and alarm management. The HMI500 TOUCH is a powerful and user friendly tool for integration with RTU and substation automation systems that includes IEC 61131-3 SoftPLC and is IEC 61850 ready.
