During the first quarter of 2011, Efacec Automation received a set of important orders, in the area of power network management and automation, highlighting the following:

- Kenya – the supply and configuration of substation automation systems for 7 substations
- EDP Produção, Portugal – the supply of systems and equipments necessary to remodeling of 8 hydro power plants
- REN, Portugal – supply of a substation automation system for the Carriche transmission substation
- ENERGEST, Brazil – Efacec do Brasil supplies a generation operation center to ENERGEST

African Utility Week 2011, South Africa
Efacec was present at the African Utility Week that took place in Cape Town, South Africa, March 14-17, 2011. The African Utility Week is the annual forum where African and international experts exhibit their development strategies and technical improvements for the power and water sectors.

DistribuTECH, US
Efacec ACS participated in the DistribuTECH exhibition in San Diego, February 1-3, 2011. DistribuTECH is a major industry show with an emphasis on Smart Grid and Distribution Automation technologies.

Other news & events

Efacec Participates in the First Interoperability Panel (IOP) for IEC 61850
THeld in Paris late March this year and hosted by EDF, UCA has organized the first Interoperability panel (IOP) for IEC 61850. Most worldwide vendors of IEC 61850 equipment and solutions participated with several products and all record tests between equipment of different manufacturers were witnessed by non-participating companies (consulting firms and utilities).

Opening Session of the Energy School | Automation

The opening session of the Energy School | Automation training sessions took place on the March 29, at the Efacec facilities in Maia, Portugal.
The opening was chaired by Mr. Luis Filipe Pereira, former president of the Executive Board of Directors.

1st Annual Conference of EnergyIn
The 1st annual conference of EnergyIn [www.energyin.com.pt] was held in Viseu, Portugal, February 10-11, 2011.
Several speakers had the opportunity to present their ideas about Energy Efficiency, Offshore Power, Solar Power, Sustainable Mobility and Smart Grids.
