Multi-touch technology has the potential to expand or even replace traditional input devices, such as the keyboard and mouse, by adding a natural and intuitive interaction paradigm. The nature of multi-touch technology enables unique and intelligent interaction tools for navigation and control by using scroll, pinch, drag or swipe gestures. The end result: your application becomes more intuitive and efficient to navigate.
Inspired by mobile devices and focusing on natural interaction for HMI applications, Efacec has recently developed a prototype implementation of a multi-touch-enabled HMI with full zoomable vector graphics, animations and controls. This innovative application brings enhanced design and improved interaction without compromising operation security.
Also featured is full IEC 61850 model-based configuration which means that you can design your HMI directly on the IEC 61850 object model available on your distributed system by simply selecting the data objects or logical nodes available on the networked IED and attaching these to your pre-defined symbols. The application then generates all required configuration for data model and communications. This innovation eliminates the need to setup and manage vendor-specific data point or tag database, bringing us closer to the full power of IEC 61850.
