EDP Distribuição, Portugal

Efacec Automation received an order from Portuguese EDP Distribuição, the Electric Power Distribution Operator, through the Efacec medium voltage equipment division, for the supply of 244 pole-top RTU for load break switches spread throughout the Portuguese territory.
The solution is based on Efacec micro TCMT, the compact module that provides basic measurement and signaling functions, fault detection and control execution. Those pole-top RTU cabinets will be composed by compact RTU and internal power supply manager, with future possibility of integrating fault detectors.
Like this EDP will be able to provide better control and supervision of its distribution network.

The Efacec solution for substation automation, the CLP 500SAS platform, is based on modern and advanced technologies, giving customers full capability to control and supervise its electrical systems.
Efacec has already supplied successfully for E.ON more than 20 integrated substation systems in the scope of other projects.

Pedernales Electric Cooperative (Johnson City, TX), US

Pedernales Electric Cooperative has placed a second order with Efacec ACS for legacy Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) upgrades.

Pedernales is the largest distribution electric cooperative in the U.S., serving more than 241,000 meters in an 8,100-square-mile service area.
Following a successful project that involved nine Connex 30 upgrades for old Systems Northwest IR-8600 and Conitel C300 RTU, Pedernales has ordered upgrades for an additional 10 Conitel RTU.
The Connex 30 upgrades will replace the controller units for each RTU along with custom engineered interface boards that enable the existing I/O terminations to remain in use. This innovative approach to RTU upgrades instead of full replacement, has been shown to save utilities more than $50,000 per upgrade in labor costs alone.
Efacec ACS pioneered this approach, and to date has delivered more than 500 total upgrades, with solutions available for more than 25 different models of legacy RTU.
