Efacec Automation Business Unit, under the reorganization and modernization introduced by the EDM in the management and implementation of its cases, has provided and implemented a SCADA system, based on SCATE X EMS, in order to manage and operate the transmission network of the South Region of the country.

EDM, investing in new technologies and management tools, wanted to develop and modernize its system, with the aim of providing improved services and lower cost to its customers with greater quality and efficiency. Having worked closely with the EDM, Efacec believes that this was achieved, because the EDM has implemented an advanced system for managing the electricity grid.

The SCADA/EMS system allows the system operator to manage the transmission network of EDM and MOTRACO, as well as the interconnection with South Africa. The system also allows the operation and automation of all substations in the South Region, including the monitoring of three ESKOM substations in South Africa.

For Efacec, this important project will consolidate its position as a major player in the international arena, both in this industry and in the markets of Southern Africa – especially in Mozambique, where it has been operating for over 30 years.
