On May, EDF R&D visited the Efacec Automation Unit in Maia, as well as two important Efacec references within the scope of substation automation.

EDF R&D is the research and development unit of French group EDF.

The EDF is one of the European energy leaders, in particular within the scope of electricity and gas, presented in several electricity domains, from liberalized (production, commercialization and trading) to the controlled ones (transmission and distribution).

The EDF R&D delegation visited the REN’s Fanhões substation, and the Quinta do Conde substation of EDP. Both substations are granted with automation systems with digital protection integration, according the IEC 61850 standard, supplied by Efacec.

Thanks to this visit, the EDF R&D took knowledge about substation automation solutions developed by Automation Unit, as well as of its participation in the Inovgrid Project, highlighting our SmartGate solution.
