During the second edition of the Product Innovation Award, promoted by COTEC and Unicer,  Efacec was distinguished with the honourable mention, resulting of its application relative to a solution developed by Automation Unit, the SmartGate.

The award ceremony took place in the Culturgest, in Lisbon, 3rd July, 2009.

Luís Filipe Pereira, Efacec General Manager, receivedthe honourable mention from the hands of the President of the Republic of Portugal, Aníbal Cavaco Silva.

The Cotec Award  main goal was to grant and publish in public innovative products (goods or services) or such product families, developed by national or foreign companies, of any dimension, that operate in Portugal.

The SmartGate is a solution for Smart Grids, corresponding to the MV/LV transformation stations controller that performs automation and control features, fault detection and power analysis, at the MV and LV network level, communicating directly to the distribution network Control Centre. It controls also the public lighting, through an agenda sent by the Control Centre.

The SmartGate is characterized also by its important role within the consumer management and independent micro producers, interacting with intelligent counters (Smart Meters) and with Data Management systems.

It is a pioneer solution for Intelligent Networks (Smart Grids) and also a strategic component of the global solution developed by InovGrid project partners, promoted by EDP.
