Efacec won a contract of more than 90 million euro with the Venezuelan electric company CADAFE. This was the biggest contract ever won by Efacec in the area of energy. Efacec Energia was responsible for this contract, concerning the supply of power transformers and mobile substations. In this scope, the Automation Unit will supply mobile substation automation systems, featuring control and protection functions.
CADAFE (Compañia Anónima de Adminitración y Fomento Eléctrico) is the biggest electrical company of the Venezuelan State, and supplies energy to more than three million people, with an electric infrastructure comprising Generation, Transmission and Distribution of electricity alowing the company to cover more than 80% of the domestic territory.
Between 2009 and 2010, Efacec’s Automation Unit will be supplying CADAFE with automation systems, featuring protection, control and measurement functions, for several mobile substations with different power levels, with a total value of 2.5 million euro.
As so, the following systems are to be installed:
- 3 Systems for mobile substations of 36 MVA, 115/34.5 kV
- 3 Systems for mobile substations of 36 MVA, 115/13.8 kV
- 11 Systems for mobile substations of 10 MVA 34.5/13.8 kV
- 7 Systems for mobile substations of 15 MVA, 34.5/13.8 kV
The automation systems are based on
CLP 500SCC, a distributed platform for substation automation, which integrates:

UC 500E central units

BCU 500 bay control units

TPU 420 family protection units
All units are connected via a fibber optics Ethernet network. Each CLP 500 platform is able to dialogue with the Load Dispatch system, via the DNP 3.0 standard protocol.
This contract, signed between Efacec and CADAFE, strengthens our presence in the markets of Latin America.
