REN - Portugal

At the domestic market, the Automation Unit received a set of important orders, valued at around 8 million euros, from REN (Rede Eléctrica Nacional), for the supply, installation and configuration of substation automation systems for 7 transmission substations.

All installations, of turn-key type, are going to be implemented at the following substations:

- Divor 400/60 kV substation

- Feira 400/60 kV substation

- Trajouce 220/60 kV substation

- Bodiosa 400/60 kV substation (expansion)

- Penela 220/60 kV substation (expansion)

- Vila Fria 150/60 kV substation (expansion)

- Alqueva 400/60 kV substation (expansion)

The solutions are based on the CLP 500SCC platform, integrating Efacec’s Bay Control Units (BCU 500) and third party protection relays.

All components will intercommunicate through an Ethernet network, according to the IEC 61850 standard.

The substations’ master units will communicate with the upstream control centre (SCADA) through the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol. The devices synchronisation will be performed by GPS.

ANDE – Paraguay

From the Latin America market, the Automation Unit received an order from the Paraguayan company ANDE (Administración Nacional de Electricidad) for the supply, installation and configuration of automation systems, featuring protection, measurement and control for 2 substations.

The substations included in the project are:
- Coronel Bogado (220/66/23/13.8 kV)
- San Antonio (220/23/13.8 kV)

Efacec will provide solutions integrating Bay Control Units (BCU 500), third party protection relays and power quality measurement devices.

This project is a sign of ANDE’s trust towards Efacec, based on its experience, high competitiveness and technical quality of its developed solutions. Previously, Efacec had already won four orders from ANDE, concerning substation automation.

EWA – Bahrain

From the Middle East market, the Automation Unit received two sets of important orders for EWA (Electricity and Water Authority, Bahrain), through its business partners Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (from the United Kingdom) and AREVA T&D (from France), with a total amount around 5.5 million euros, for the supply of integrated control systems for 24 substations of 66/11 kV, as well as for the expansion of integrated control systems for 5 substations of 220/66/11 kV.

The scope of supply of Efacec for each substation includes an automation system based on CLP 500SCC, integrating protection relays from third parties.

The new 24 substation automation systems, will be implemented by Efacec according to the IEC 61850 standard. The central unit communicates with the upstream control centre (SCADA) through the IEC 60870-5-101/104 protocol.

It’s worth mentioning that EWA’s preference for our solutions and services was recognized by our business partners, Balfour Beatty and AREVA.
