Expansions for Substation Automation, REN, Portugal

Efacec has concluded the commissioning works for REN, regarding several substation expansions, comprising automation systems based on the CLP 500SCC platform, among which we can distinguish the following ones:
-
Zezeré substation: commissioning of one new transformer bay (220/60 kV).
-
Mourisca substation: commissioning of two line bays of 220 kV each.
-
Portimão substation: commissioning of one line bay of 400 kV and one transformer bay of 400/150 kV. Besides Efacec devices, the CLP 500SCC platform integrates third party protections.
-
Ferreira de Alentejo substation: commissioning of two auto-transformers bays of 400/150 kV and two line bays of 400 kV. Besides Efacec devices, the CLP 500SCC platform integrates third party protections.
REN is the mainland Portuguese Transmission System Operator (TSO).

Substation Automation, EDA, Portugal

Efacec has concluded the implementation of a substation automation system for EDA’s Foros substation (60/30/10 kV). EDA is an electric power production, transmission and distribution company of the Azores archipelago, Portugal.
The project included the installation of a substation automation system based on CLP 500SCC, integrating digital protection relays from Efacec and third parties.
The system installed in this substation provides a local HMI (Human Machine Interface) and communicates through the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol with other substation automation systems, also by Efacec, existing in the Lagoa and Milhafres substations.
With this commissioning, Efacec reaffirms its leadership in the domestic market, within the scope of supply of sophisticated automation systems, featuring protection relays for distribution substations.

SCADA/DMS Disaster Recovery, EDP, Portugal

Efacec has concluded a set of works in the field of Disaster Recovery for EDP Distribuição. EDP Distribuição is the mainland Portuguese Distribution System Operator (DSO).
The aim of the Disaster Recovery solution is to guarantee the complete operational service availability for the area covered by the two SCADA/DMS control centres existing in the country, in case of a serious disaster at one of them.
The architecture proposed by Efacec achieves lower costs for the installation, testing and maintenance of the final installation. This makes the solutions more attractive, both from the technical and the investment point of view.
With these works completed, Efacec reinforces its leadership position in Portugal, within the scope of supply of sophisticated management systems for distribution electric power networks.

Substation Automation, EWA, Bahrain

Efacec has finished the installation and commissioning works for several substations of EWA (Electricity and Water Authority) in Bahrain.
The scope of the implemented works were:
-
Commissioning of an automation system based on CLP 500SCC for Marsa Substation (66/11 kV), integrating third party protections. A local control centre based on SCATE X was also installed.
-
Commissioning of integrated automation systems of 3 substations: Al Hajar, Nuwaidrat and GIIC (220/60 kV), also including a local control centre based on SCATE X, supporting redundant GPS synchronization.
By successfully finishing this work, Efacec reinforces its presence in Bahrain, concerning the supply of sophisticated automation systems for distribution substations, based on CLP 500SCC. The offered solutions are characterized by their flexibility, performance and availability.
