»» Commissioning of EEM's mobile station, Portugal (Madeira Island)

     Station internal detail

Throughout February 2008, EFACEC finished one more work in the domain of automation and protection systems for the 30 kV distribution mobile station, with GIS technology, for EEM (Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira), at Madeira Island.

All the component of engineering, assembly, installation and commissioning of the mobile station was assured by EFACEC, in the scope of a turn-key supply that embraces a substation automation system, based on CLP 500SCC, which integrates UAC 420 automation and control units and TPU S420 protections, both from EFACEC, as well as line differential protections from third parties, in compliance with the IEC 61850 standard.

The station automation system components communicate among them trough a fibre optic Ethernet local network, in compliance with the IEC 61850 standard. The CLP 500SCC platform central units communicate with the Regional Dispatch trough the IEC 60870-5-101 protocol by serial port.

EEM (Empresa de Electricidade da Madeira) operates in the energy production, transport, distribution and sales in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, serving a population of around 245 thousand inhabitants.
